Aussies arrive for World Junior final – Prostejov,27 July 2010

The Australian team has arrived in Prostejov, Czech Republic for the World Junior Team Competition final, which begins on 2 August.

Sixteen boys’ teams and sixteen girls’ teams will compete for the title, which was won last year by USA in the girls’ event and by Spain in the boys’ event.

Ashleigh Barty, Lyann Hoang and Blake Mott met up with the rest of the team after an epic journey, which saw them fly from Australia to Dubai to Paris then onto Austria before driving through the Slovak Republic and finally arriving in the Czech Republic.

Team coach Mark Hlawaty said it was important the team arrived early to settle into their new surrounds and prepare for competition.

“It’s great to have all the boys and girls here in one spot. There is a great camaraderie amongst the team and the new guests have added some extra spark to the group,” he told tennis.com.au.

The Australian team spent their first day in Prostejov hitting balls and training off court.
